Keyboard-wise, I prefer Asus since they have a 4 row numpad compared to Sager's 3 row numpad. The Numlock on Sage is a Function key which is a bit annoying.

A Sager comparison to the G73JW-A1 would be the the NP8760-S1. It's a bit thicker though but only by half an inch, give or take. The only big difference between the two units hardware-wise is that the Sager's stock CPU is an i7-840 compared to the Asus' i7-740, the Sager only has one stock HDD, it's stock wireless card is an Ultimate 6300, and the Sager has more ports like an Express card slot, DVI output, eSata port, etc.

The Sager does have give you a choice between the ATI 5870 or the Nvidia 460 graphics cards.

I think top of the line Sager would most likely win.

You will not be dissapointed with the g73jw by any means. I get max settings on every game I throw at it with no lag or anything. I also run Adobe CS5 and this thing screams through it.

If you going 15", then get the ASUS - second HD ftw.

If you are going 17" or >, then get a Sager - everything for the win.

The Sager also allows you to upgrade the GPU and CPU at a later date without voiding your warranty. The Asus is a really awesome machine. I personally own a G73jw and will say that I enjoy pretty much every aspect of it. The Sager is designed in a more universal manner. It is much less proprietary than the Asus. They dont get really fancy with anything.(you can tell that by the design as well) It has outstanding cooling, better I/O ports, user upgradeable parts, cheaper upgrades at the time of purchase, and very good build quality. The Asus is very good in the price for performance category. However the only user upgradeable parts are limited to wifi, HDD, and unless you want to take the computer completely apart you have access to only 3 of the 4 ram dimms. Sager gives you full panel access to all parts.

I will have to unfortunately correct what someone said earlier on in the post. I realize this is a slightly older post and his statement was true at the time he said it, but the 8760 no longer has the HD5870 as an option. Clevo has discontinued that card. Which is unfortunate as it was slightly faster than the GTX460M. However in most cases the difference isn't going to make enough difference to really sway a person away from buying it just because they no longer offer that card. If you really want the highest benchmark scores and the highest fps the ATI card was the winner. But the GTX460M is solid from a GPU performance standpoint as well. On nearly every game I play it performs without a hitch. I will be interested to benchmark the GTX470M when it releases...maybe it will be able to give the 5870 a true run for its money.
