Since this is not officially released by Microsoft I won't post any links.

The x64 is a 614mb download and the x86 is 337mb.

Since it's an RC and not an RTM it has an expiration date.

expiration date - 8/31/2011 7:59 PM - watermark present

On the x64 RC there's a huge amount of hotfixes. It probably would take several posts to list them all.

If you have SP1 Beta installed you will need to uninstall it completely and reboot before you can install the RC.Google how to remove it.

If your OS is not English and you have an English language pack installed, installing the RC will most likely give an error message.

Make a restore point before installing.

If your unsuccessful in installing the RC open this link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/uninstall-sp1-beta

To early to tell of any noticeable changes

OK,after a few hours of running with the RC installed on this Windows 7 Ultimate x64 desktop everything is running smooth but I really can't tell any difference yet from the official beta.

The RC took about 30 minutes to install that includes the reboots.

The Windows 7 Evaluation copy.Build 7601 watermark appeared in the lower right corner after the 2nd reboot.

If you recall the RTM version of Windows 7 is Build 7600.

http://myhken.info/div/201010_w7sp1rc1.jpgToday

we are releasing the Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) to the public. This RC signals the last public beta build to be released prior to the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) final release. As previously announced, the only new features added to the SP1 are the Windows Server 2008 R2-related virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX – please see the Windows Server Division Weblog for more details (http://blogs.technet.com/b/windowsserver/archive/2010/10/26/service-pack-1-release-candidate-now-available.aspx). These features will help customers who choose to deploy Windows through Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) by enabling a more scalable and rich user experience.
While Windows 7 SP1 will enable PCs to take advantage of these server-based features to provide a more scalable and richer VDI experience for end users, there are no additional new features specific to Windows 7.
You can download the RC of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 by clicking here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/ff183870.aspx).
