Hi, I've been lurking these forums for a while trying to see which laptop is right for me (I need one for college this fall), and I'm not quite sure what the differences are between the options. The info section on it only describes two options, one of which isn't even a choice for the Sage NP5793. So basically I'm wondering what the differences between the options are.
Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio
Sound Blaster Xfi Surround SB1090 5.1 Channel external USB Sound Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express Card

I have 5.1 speakers that I plan on using so I would like to know if the built-in S.C. supports 5.1 through the s/pdif or if I have to upgrade. Also, will either upgrade rely on the CPU or will they do their own sound processing for surround?

Thanks!

Built-in internal sound card
Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio External Sound Cards

Sound Blaster Xfi Surround SB1090 5.1 Channel external USB Sound Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express CardSound Blaster Xfi Surround SB1090 5.1 Channel external USB Sound Card - Plugs in via USB port
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express - Plugs in via Express Card slot

The Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express is the most recommended if you are looking for 5.1 surround sound

I recommend just getting the integrated audio and then purchasing a 5.1 channel headset afterwards. The external card is more of a hassel in my opinion and more pricey.

The thing is, I already have 5.1 speakers.

In that case I would get the X-fi Xpress card, that is if you plan on having your speakers plugged in a lot.
