One more year! We did it. The outlook for Notebooks is looking very nice. For those we have lost in the last year God Bless. And for the rest of us best wishes!:):):)

I like what I see on the Notebook front, I like what I see going on at Xotic. Let's wish the best for all, Xotic and ourselves.;):)

On the tech side, congrats Intel. You guys have been doing good for us power users. Give a real shout out to Asus for making performance systems on a working mans budget. And of course Sager for always pushing the limits. And who can forget MSI for really offering some great systems in that Asus class of affordable.

I look forward to much more in this year.:)

Late again but Happy New Year everybody! Hope you all had a fun one.

Now let's get ready for CES in a few days. Should have some good announcements. Fairly sure I'll be seeing a new cell phone that I want. Right now the HTC Thunderbolt aka Verizon EVO is in the lead.

No, not as much of the fan of the iPhone anymore. It's not that I think it is a bad phone, they work well, but I'm a huge fan of Android in comparison. Google is more innovative and they don't make people wait until the following year to introduce more features into their OS. I loved everything about the EVO but I'm on Verizon so was not an option. I figured Verizon would get something similar when they opened their 4G network and sure enough they are. Of course this Optimus 2 with the dual core processor and even bigger screen sounds pretty amazing if it is also coming to Verizon.

CES definitely is Christmas for geeks.

I checked your Thunderbird out. When I first read 1.2GHz Snapdragon I was like, my 1GHz Hummingbird will beat it. Then I saw dual core. So I crawled back into my geek cave.

I did some research on the processors in general a few weeks back. And while of course you get the geek cred over mine because you will have two cores and I have one. I was surprised by some of the thinking I saw written.

At this point in real world performance I don't think your dual is going to give much real world speed over mine. That's always true with the newest, they don't write apps for hardware that is not even released or for one phone. Yes this will change once it gets out there.

Here is what you will get and from what I have read the real reason for multi core on these phones. Splitting tasks and running higher loads for shorter periods of time will reduce over all power consumption and even heat. Two major pluses in these devices. I have used this theoretical example with both, HDD's 5400 vs 7200 and higher vs lower clocked CPU's. Task time is important to power/heat. Seems theoretical on notebooks. On smart phones seems real/critical. I can kill my battery in 8 hrs if I do certain things and leave things running. GPS and bluetooth are drains. Turning 4G off when not using or just wanting voice calls. I carry an adapter with me most of the time. It is that bad.

I have had Sprint for about 15 years. It was always fine I just had voice. When I bought, Sprint was the only 4G. In about a year and a half when contract expires I will look at all the providers. Network speed and cost. Your Verizon might kill you with data overages depending on what you do. Sprint is unlimited on 4G Verizon not.

If this post proves anything. That would be that all the geeks are not at CES.

HA! PP I love when you break things down further.

I actually agree with you about the Optimus 2 and how even having some of the most amazing specs yet for a phone, it might not be all that much greater for a while until those specs become more standard and people develop things to take advantage of it. We'll just have to wait and see what is shown at CES. I think a big factor for me is which phones will be coming to Verizon and when. This EVO type one for Verizon sounds like it will be out relatively soon. If the others are talking about Summer or later release then I might as well get the Thunderbolt. It's like we always say, there is always going to be something bigger and better around the corner. I'll just be waiting forever and the Thunderbolt should keep me happy for two years. Worse case I can probably sell it and buy a new phone with the money if something must have comes out later.

One feature I'm not happy about is Thunder is stated as coming with Froyo and not Gingerbread which sucks some. It will update eventually but I would have liked to have started with Gingerbread.

The speculation I saw said 2.3 Gingerbread did you see different? Also some question on the CPU. Oh well only time will tell.

I've seen a couple of places say 2.2 but I think everyone is guessing right now with that one. All will be revealed soon enough.

I guess you didn't read my post well.

The post itself appears benign.

The ICQ cherry hanging there is click enabled.

That's where the danger is waiting for a bite.

Relax. :P

I didn't notice the ICQ icon was enabled on their profile.

I know you wouldn't post anything made up. Was just wondering what they posted that as a threat. Now, I see what you meant.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today,February 3,2011,is the Lunar New Year 4709, the Year of the Rabbit.

http://gothamist.com/attachments/arts_jen/rabbitrabbit0111.jpg

Many people in Asian countries use the Lunar calendar for celebrating their special days like a birthday.

This means every year it's on a different day and a pain in the arse to keep track of friend's and family's birthdays.

While many young modern thinking people are celebrating according to the solar calendar there are many stuck to the traditional Lunar calendar
