Hi,
I am very close to making an order on a Sager np7280.
I will be specifically using this to run Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 (and other apps in the Cs5 suite)...I will be travelling overseas and working on short documentaries..editing on the road.

hence I need a computer that can cope with the extensive demands of editing HDSLR video footage.

From my research the 7280 seems like a good choice...specs below I am considering ordering.

Can you travel with this computer? Has anyone taken it on a plane with carry on? I am a bit concerned about the size of the machine...which when combined with the rest of my camera gear is a bit of an issue!
What are your thoughts?

Also can anyone see any issues with the specs for video editing. Thank you!

it is big, but i tried it in one plane and it fit, well this sucks because the battery life i have with browsing is only 30 mins. at battery saving only 35mins. but if this is plugged then its one heck of a performer of cs5.

What is HDSLR video? I don't know. I know HDSLR I call it SLR camera. SLR and video throws me for a loop? I think I can answer other than that. I don't have the NP7280, I think the footprint of mine is similar. Yes mine is 2lbs lighter but whatever. I carry HD video recorder and point and shoot camera around in my backpack. It would work as carry on.

I am an amateur so maybe not the same needs as you. The NP7280 is the best you will get if performance is the goal. I think it would be a good fit for you.

If you decide size is an issue you do have other options. Yes you will have a performance drop. But consider current i7 mobiles stack up alright against last gen desktop CPU's. I don't think many last gen desktop guys are upgrading out of need.

If you can afford NP7280 I say go for it. You will figure out the size and logistic issues. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the replies!
Much appreciated...HDSLR is High Def Video taken on an SLR camera...it is a revolution my friend;)
Have a look at this to see what one can achieve on a DSLR camera these days...

Season finale of House was shot with one of these too...

Anyway the issue with HD video of any sort is it requires serious horse power to edit well...SD video (standard def)...was easier in this regard.

As I'm now shooting HD..and travelling I want to make sure I don't end up with an expensive computer that either can't cope with editing HD video...or I can't actually take with me on a plane because it is too big!

From what I read the 7280 has plenty of grunt to cope...and I'm hoping it will travel ok too.

Thanks for your replies..much appreciated!
