So whats the word on the new sandy bridge models?
Will most likely be purchasing the NP8170-S1 in the next few days. Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache), GeForce GTX 485M, 8 Gig ram, dual 500 gb hard drives @7200. IS this a good machine or is th 7280 still a better choice. Comes to around 2100-2300 depending on if I custom skin it and what warranty.

ANd for the same price I can either get a 15" with a -Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM, 2.2-3.3GHz, or the 17" with two hard drives and a Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz.
What would be the better choice, as I guess 2" of screen size isnt that big a deal to me unless it messes with the high res settings.

So when are these available? NBR forums indicated not unti "end of January" but I don't see any notice here about availability, so assuming available now?

I would upgrade to the 2720 processor given the low upgrade price for the amount of processing speed gained over the 2630 (compared to the upgrades to 2820 or 2920).. I'm also planning on ordering a NP8170-S1 and upgrading to 2720 is the first thing I did.:)
