Finally Sandy Bridge is here! I'm ready to pull the trigger (well in a couple days) but what is the difference between the NP8130 and NP8150? Is it an upgradeable GPU? Thanks.
Oh yeah, and is the optical drive the same as the NP8690? I'd like to put a hard drive in the ODD bay.

Wow nice find. All I can see is the matte vs Glossy and the 8150 does offer a GPU upgrade.
Is the GPU upgradeable? Not sure.
You should be able to use the ODD for HDD if you want.

Well, the matte screen, and I also see the power supply is 120W vs 180W for the NP8150. But if it's just a matter of getting a new power supply later if I decide to upgrade my GPU, then I'll manage it then.
I just wanted to know if the NP8130/8150 has the same ODD bay as the NP8690 because then I will just order one.

Only 8130 has the matte screen
Hard Drive in the ODD bay
External ODD when needed but ODDs becoming obsolete.
180w power adapter(good if overclocking)

Great and informative post Smog. There was one thing I wanted to clear up. The 8130 and 8150 have the HM65 chipset. Only the 8170 has the HM67.

With out saying these are the only difference between HM65 and HM67. This chart (http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/324645.pdf) (1.3) says HM67 supports 14 USB 2.0 HM65 disables 2 of them on port 12. HM67 supports RAID HM65 does not.

I was wondering the same thing about the difference. Another thing I've noticed is that the lower priced NP8130 actually comes preloaded with 8GB of RAM, as opposed to the NP8150's 4GB. Additionally, I noticed that a Blu-Ray upgrade is $70 on the 8130 compared to $120 on the 8150.
I have one question for everyone: Is the 8130's screen worse than the 8150's? The matte screen that you can upgrade to on the 8150 is a "Matte Type Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)." The matte screen on the 8130 is just a "LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Matte Type Screen." Is that 95% Color Gamut on the 8150's screen important? Also, would a glossy screen be better? I'm buying my laptop mostly for intense gaming (Crysis 2, SC2, and Diablo III on max graphics, for example), so would the matte screen be less "exciting" to play on than the glossy one?

To your real question on is there a difference you need to talk to Sager or Xotic. From personal judgement? No they would be the same if both are matte.
On the question of matte vs gloss? That is an argument/issue you will never resolve. Each has characteristics I can see as benefit, or negative.
The screens are the same if that helps? The description is just marketing. LED is just LED in this case. Both are only backlit. They are not AMOLED or whatever we now call it.

I get what you're saying about the marketing, but it strikes me as weird that one matte screen would have one name while one on a different laptop would have a differently named matte screen if they're actually both the same. I'm only looking at the models on this website, so I'm just not sure why Xotic would market them both differently.
Also, does anyone know if the GTX 460M in the 8130/8150 is upgradeable? I
want my laptop to be future proof, but I don't have the money to pour $500 more into it.

Sager says yes GPUs are upgradeable.
So where could I buy a mobile GPU when I want to upgrade the laptop's GTX480M? I've looked around but I can't find anywhere to buy a mobile GPU.

That is the issue? You can in theory buy but the cost is prohibitive. $500+ You can't or would not upgrade unless you are a maniac or a NBR fan. How is Chaz doing? Most worthless piece of $$$$ I ever met.:p:D:)

The thing is that I would REALLY like the GTX485M because it's the power of two GTX460Ms, but I just don't have the money for it. Do you expect standalone laptop GPUs to be more prominent (and less costly) in the near future? I did just find one for sale, but it was $700 on eBay.

:( Oh well, I'll either have to settle for the GTX460M (not that it's a bad card or anything) or save up some more money.
