Ok I've finally decided on getting a Sager NP2096 laptop, but I have a couple questions. I'm wanting to upgrade to 4G ram, so does that mean I have to purchase the Vista Home Premium as well? I see it comes with a 3-in-1 card reader is that sufficient, or should I upgrade to the 45-in-1 card? I have several device such as camera's, and jump drives that I may need to use.

Nice lappy choice!
The 3-in-1 card reader reads SD/MMC/MS. Find out what kind of cards each of your devices take and then you'll see if the 3 in 1 is good enough. FYI = The 45-in-1 is a reader/writer.

No, you don't have to purchase the Vista Home Premium just to get 4GB of RAM. However, if your going to be running XP, you don't need 4GB of RAM as XP will only recognize up to 3GB.
If you want to run Vista, I would strongly recommend 4GB of RAM.
Also, if you plan on running Vista later, you could go ahead with getting 4GB of RAM now if you want. Memory can be upgraded later as well, just something to keep in mind.
(If you do plan on going to Vista later though it would be more cost effective to go ahead and get the 4GB put in when you order).

Windows XP 32-Bit runs, and recognizes 4GB fine and dandy, though the reason I take it XoticPC states to use Vista, is that the processor + XP + 4GB RAM = no go (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx).

As for upgrading your RAM from 4GB, that won't be needed for a long long long time...

Well, now I'm confused.

Im pretty sure as it is XP and Vista 32-bit can recognize up to 4GB of RAM, but can only utilize 3.2GB of it.

64-bit, however, can recognize up to 32GB (i think? or maybe its only 8GB) but its utilization and even ability to accept that much RAM depends on your motherboard.

The reason Xotic says to upgrade to Vista is because otherwise this 4GB of RAM would not be fully utilized without the 64-bit version of Vista.

64-bit can handle 16-exabytes of RAM IIRC.
