View Full Version : Sager 5796 Res
Hi, im planning to buy a sager 5796 laptop this week and i have a question about the resolution... im gonna use the laptop to write some documents, play some games like CS, Cod 4 and maybe some others, and using the web and all that basic stuff.. i've never seen any laptop with WUXGA or WSXGA.
So my question is: Wich resolution do you think i should get?
thanks

Hey Lmg! Im like you Im planning on playing crysis, half life 2, bioshock and doom 3 so I got WSXGA (1680X1050). Personally this is good enough for me since Im getting a 15.4 notebook. Considering that you are getting a 17 inch notebook you should get WUXGA (1920×1200). If you need more help deciding check this site: http://searchwarp.com/swa236321.htm
WSXGA is still great. If you want to watch 1080p videos you should get WUXGA. Btw it is probably easier for the graphics card to play games at WSXGA resolution.
ty for the reply, one more thing... will i have considerably more FPS on games like cod 4 on WSXGA or theres just a little difference?

You will get more FPS on a WSXGA over a WUXGA, IF you play the game at native resolution.
However, if you get a WUXGA and play the game at a lower resolution, your FPS will increase, and you might be able to put a higher quality on.
The same is true with the WSXGA, lower the resolution, better FPS since the graphics card doesn't have to render as much.
I don't know what the FPS difference in those two resolutions would be, but there would be a difference.
You might be able to estimate what difference there might be from this:

As you can tell, there are more FPS's at a lower resolution.
So really it's up to you on whether you get the WSXGA or the WUXGA. Just remember you can always go down in resolution for your games.
