Just got off of the phone with a rep...was trying to get an estimated ship date for the 9262 I ordered early last week.
Apparently the 9800m GT cards have not been released.

So anyone who has ordered a laptop with the 9800mGT whether or not in SLI, you are in for an email later this afternoon...
Ship dates delayed.

I want to correct some statements to ensure everyone has the correct information. The 9800m GT is only on backorder for the Sager np9262. Other model notebook such as the 5796 or 8660 are not affected.

We will be updating all customers that have ordered a Sager np9262 this morning.

"The ETA for this model to arrive back into stock is 8/11/08. Your order will be sent to production at that time." :(:(:(

Why is only the 9262 affected? Is it just a priority Sager has set for other models?

This delay is caused by nVidia who wasn’t able to deliver a shipment of the 9800m video cards in time to Clevo, which resulted in Sager not being able to receive the 9262. The ETA for this model to arrive back into stock is 8/11/08.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Is it possible that the 9800mGTX in SLI will be available around that time as well?
I had previously cancelled orders with Dell and then Alienware due to delivery issues.
I came here and asked about delivery times, was told 3-7 business days and promptly cancelled my order with Alienware for the m17x.
I still do not regret this as I know I am getting a better, more well equipped computer that is comparably priced. I am also dealing with a company with a much better rep and customer service.

However, I have waited since then end of June for a laptop (the course of 3 manufacturers) For the increased performance of a 9800mGTX in SLI over the 9800mGT in SLI I could force myself to wait an additional week or so.

As long as it isn't a very long wait...

(I know these things happen. ExoticPC we still love you. We understand this is not your fault.)

Looks like sooner rather than later.

I've just been informed that my 9800GT equipped 9262 has shipped as of the 4th. This is confirmed by UPS. Thank you very much for the notification.

Hopefully others will ship soon also.

Would the Sager NP5796 ship any sooner? or is that the same wait on the 9800 GT?

Thanks.

I have just received an email from someone at powernotebooks:

There must be some misunderstanding here. Neither Sager, Xoticpc nor PowerNotebooks.com have any shortage of 9800M GT’s for the Sager NP9262.
The issue is that the Sager NP9262 shells were on back order for a while, and the Quadro FX 1600 cards were as well. However at this point everything is in stock, but we are waiting for the Intel processor price drop that is coming this Sunday. The Sager NP9262 will begin shipping again next week, but all the back orders will have to be cleared out before new orders can ship.

Can someone at Xotic PC explain what is really going on? Who is telling the truth Xotic or powernotebooks?

Edit: Considering Woody got his 9800mGt with no hitches...
I hate to be deceived.

It is a combination of some delayed Video Cards that were expected to Clevo and a overall delay on the 9262 from Clevo.

I must say I'm confused as well. I called Sager yesterday to get a update on there shipment ETA for the 9262 and they said they never had a delay and there current queue is only backed up about a day. I believe it was a Brian I spoke with, he said if they received my order as of yesterday it would most likely ship today???? My laptop has been on order since 7/28 thats almost 2 weeks now!!

Will you just be patient... your saving enough money here to atleast do that. Unless not recieving your laptop within a few days of ordering is going to result in bodily harm or death, then please limit your posting to anything but consistent bickering and whining... your driving everyone nuts. Atleast use the phone number and stop spamming the forums, it is not helping anyone. Thank you.

What? Not a fair and balanced forum?
As long as everything is sugar-coated it's fine?

There clearly is a delay as every Sager reseller including Sager themselves are currently out of stock on the Sager np9262 until August 11th. This delay is caused by a production delay with Clevo and some delayed video cards that were expected to Clevo as Justin stated below:

Then how is it I called Sager yesterday and spoke with Brian at there 800 number and he said there was no delays. I asked him if I purchased one today (yesterday) how long before I could expect a ship date and he said most likely tomorrow (today). This is why I'm confused, I'm not blaming anyone but the worst thing is to be lied too.

I would recommend you contact Sager again and speak with a more knowledgeable representative that is more informed of the delay.

Ok I called Sager and spoke with Frank in Sales.

I was told that if I placed an order today with him I could have one in 7-10 days.
I asked about any delays or issues.
In XoticPC's defense, There were some hold ups regarding a metal plate and something about the CPU prices coming down this weekend.
Also, delays are directly correlated to configuration.

This is the same garbage Sager did with the 8800's. They offer them say there available, you order then they tell you oh wait it's going to be another 2 months. Sorry........This will be one of my last computers with them that's forsure.

The backorders are Clevo`s fault, not Sager's.
You have to understand that there is a very high demand of the high end parts and that they're not readily available due to that.
We appreciate your concerns, but try to understand that Sager/Xotic is doing their best to make sure everyone gets their order ASAP.

Looking at the bigger picture, Sager offers the newest technology months ahead of other companies. If there is a delay, you will still get your hands on the new tech/device before anyone else. I would rather be on a list than waiting until it was official.

I believe that a balanced forum is a good thing, but calling Xotic liars and blaming them for delays is not getting anyone anywhere. The SSDs were one example... you get an explanation for why they were removed and are still not satisified. You need to understand that Xotic is a small company compared to most and that they are working as hard as they can to serve all of their customers. Ask yourself why a company would intentionally prevent you from spending your money on their product? It is simply proposterous. The point is that you can tell people that you did not find their service favorable, but your lively commentary does not need to be at the end of every post; IE sarcastically congradulating people on their laptops. I hope you understand where I am coming from. I just think they deserve some respect as well. (I hope you didn't create an alternative profile just to support yourself... but I trust that you didn't)

IE sarcastically congradulating people on their laptops.

Absolutely no sarcasm in any Congratulations I have expressed.
As I have said repeatedly, I know that my case is not the norm.
I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to buy from them. Their reputation speaks for itself.
I just happen to be in that lower percentile of unhappy customers.
I am still waiting for them to cancel my order since they said they would 2 days ago....still shows pending on my account.
They are in no hurry to return my 6.5K They're drawing interest on it.

Crow, your order is marked as canceled on our website. Please try to understand we are moving today and tomorrow and are approximately 48 hours behind on our normal administrative duties.

Please PM me if you have some questions or if there is something of concern to you. I am concerned with your "unhappy customers." comment. Please PM me and we can discuss. :)

I apologize for being perhaps too harsh. Some of your last posts seemed on the vengeful side and as I have seen before when something doesn't turn out the way someone planned, they decide to go on a negative nancy crusade for some sort of personal victory. Atleast you are not one of those types (the "I'll be lurking around here" comment was what worried me), but saying that Xotic is deliberately commiting fraud is a pretty harsh accusation. Notice that Justin ignored any negative comments you may have made and is still persisting to offer support. This can be the last post about this, but I think you may owe an apology to him. Other than that, I think Anewbus could use a companion on his laptop congradulating spree ;).

My 9262 arrived yesterday.....thank you very much!

It's equipped with a single 9800M GT.

I'm installing Win XP Pro on it as we speak. Been having some trouble with my slipstreamed copy not recognizing the audio system but it seems to be something to do with SP3 or the fact that I built the slipstreamed disk while working in Vista on another machine. I managed to get it working with a slipstreamed copy of SP2 built up in an XP environment....trying one more time with SP3....if it fails I'll just install the SP2 and then manually install SP3 after getting the drivers up and running.

In any case I'm documenting the experience and will post a full review when finished.

Well, what they don't tell you is that SP3 has a lot of issues. For example I installed it on our old HP desktop and suddenly it would crash at boot. So I booted into safe mode and read some forums, and apparently it was a common problem with HP computers. I did manage to fix the problem by editing my registry. I would recommend searching around online for similar discussions. Thank god for google ;).
