Will there be an option, in the future, to upgrade a 5793 to a new nVidia 9800 or the new ATI card? Or are these completely different form factors or motherboard requirements?

I can answer your question right now ;). I believe they may be upgradeable, but either way do NOT spend the money on a 8800M GTX ----> 9800M GTX. It is not worth a single penny for the slight performance increase. If your lucky the next series will be compatible and actually be worth a swap in the future.
