I was just on the Kingston website trying to find memory for the lappy I am getting. (Force3298v2 built on the Compal JFL92) It already comes with 2GB of that Kingston HyperX memory, but when I looked for it at Kingston, they have never heard of that model of lappy.
Now I'm even more confused. The reason I was looking in the first place is because I might want to upgrade to 4GB of RAM and wanted to find prices. (I went with 2GB when I ordered because I thought XP wouldn't recognize more than 3GB, now I hear that is not the case and that it will recognize 4GB).
Now how in the world is the Kingston memory in my lappy if they don't show the model?
Is there a compatible substitute thing going on or something? Like memory model xxxx works in laptop models xxxx and xxxx... and so on?
This is so confusing.
Update: I Just spoke with Kingston and they said that the HyperX memory is for overclocking and doesn't work as well as the generic memory unless you overclock the hyperX. I don't do overclocking because its too dangerous. So now I'm wondering about the memory. Of course, I'll know how it performs when I get my lappy. :)
