Another question bugged me while I looked at the NP5160, The graphics card being mid range and all, would it be better to get the normal screen?(13xx vs 968 or something along that line)
for example say i get the laptop and couple years form now a game cant be played properly at high resolution so I have to lower the res to some low res and play it stretched or really small(like what i currently do due to my extremely weak graphics), would I better off taking the Smaller native resolution? I am currently using a 1440x900 and i love the widescreen res so I thought the 1920x1020 sounded wonderful but will the graphics and the cpu manage this resolution for gaming?

so to sum it all up, would you recommend the FHD screen with the NP5160?

Also, when is the tentative shipping date of the fixed NP 5160?

Completely unrelated but does xoticpc sell laptop sleeves?

Thanks in advance

If you want a "gaming"notebook you will need to up to the NP8130 with FHD matte screen.

The GT540M is similar to the GT435M and while it will play some games it will stutter with more graphics intense ones.

The DDR5 on GTX460M has far superior bandwidth to the DDR3 on the GT540M.

Buy all means get FHD so more fits on the screen and less scrolling is needed.

Most games don't look that bad on non native resolution so get FHD.

@ smog: I am not a "hardcore" gamer but i do play games so the graphics should more than strong enough for me, anymore is overkill:) the most intensive game i probably plan to play is CoD:modern warfare or Darkspore when that comes out

@Powerpack: cool, glad to know.

About the sleeves, that link seems to be for backpacks, I have a bag already but i rather have a sleeve so I can just stuff it into the bag without worrying abut it being scratched or damaged while in the bag, any ideas?

Anyway thanks again for the quick responses:biggrin:

I think you didn't dig deep enough into the link and click on the Slappa link.

ah sorry about that and thanks.

Another question though,

Bluetooth

Internal Bluetooth + EDR

Wireless Network

Built-in 802.11 Wireless B/G/N - Stock Wireless Card + Bluetooth
Intel® Advanced-N 6230 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Blueooth ( + 25 )
Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module ( + 35 )

if Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module is chosen, will i still have the bluetooth from the internal one? ( just making sure)

Thanks

Its hard to tell if an anisotropic filtered grass texture viewed from an angle isn't pixel perfect etc.. IMO: using non native resolutions in 3D games makes little difference. Desktop where there are sharp lines, angles, text, etc... yeah it matters there. Games, nah.
